Attendance

Attendance is a critical part of what makes a student successful. Parents set the tone for the importance of school to their students beginning in elementary school. Therefore, we look at attendance and tardiness and early pick-ups carefully. We need parents' help in making school a priority and helping set students on a path towards success. This year we will continue focusing significantly on improving attendance and in doing so we will have incentive programs for students monthly. Students must learn that attendance is important, and to be successful they need to be in school. Establishing this understanding early helps support future success in middle school and high school and ensures they carry these values for the rest of their lives. We have clear guidelines that we follow to reinforce these values and encourage and support our students. Each student is required by law to be in regular attendance at school and in class.  The law also requires that a written excuse, explaining the reason for an absence, be sent to school immediately following the absence.
